Consistency beats motivation

Motivation is a great way to start and a terrible way to continue. It shows up loud in January and vanishes by February. The people who get real results are not more motivated than you — they have simply made training small and automatic enough that it no longer depends on motivation at all.

David's longest-running class members have been coming for years, not weeks. Ask them their secret and none of them say willpower. They say things like "it is just what I do on a Tuesday."

That is the trick: make it a fixed appointment, not a decision you re-make every day. Attach it to something already in your week. And lower the bar on bad days — showing up and doing half is infinitely better than skipping, because it keeps the habit alive.

Progress comes from the sessions you repeat, not the perfect ones you plan. Aim for consistent and ordinary over occasional and heroic, and the results take care of themselves.
